Los Torres del Paine SMP-2361

Los Torres del Paine SMP-2361

Torres Del Paine National Park, Chile. March, 2010.

Located in the Patagonia region of South America, Los Torres del Paine consist of three gigantic granite monoliths that reach skyward at a completely vertical angle.

This image of all three peaks of the Towers was captured shortly after sunrise. We had spent the prior afternoon at the Torres overlook with clouds and nothing but dull gray colors in the rock, and it had rained overnight. We almost did not repeat the steep, demanding 45 minute trek in the dark to catch the sunrise. Fortunately, the clouds lifted, and we had a glorious morning. By mid morning, the color was gone, and the Towers had gone back to a dull gray color.
